Heights Kindy: Numeracy and Literacy at home

Hi Families,

Tip of the week:

If you are spending time at home helping your child with their literacy and numeracy development, remember children learn best through interest based/fun experiences.

Games we play in the Preschool Room:

  • Count offs (two children have a counting competition)
  • Letter/number hunts
  • ABC singing wars (two groups of children taking turns to sing the letters of the alphabet)
  • Memory games
  • Tracing dinosaur and construction tool names
  • Snakes and ladders
  • Letter swat (placing letters on table, calling out a letter and children have to hit it with a fly swat)

It is so important to give your children positive learning experiences while they are young, so they love literacy and numeracy throughout their life.
